The Fream Family:: NW Louisiana

I love how my job allows me to meet new people all the time. This family was so fun. I met them on the day of their shoot through a mutual friend and I felt like we had known each other for a months! :) I love that! We went to Shreveport's Norton Art Gallary and we were lucky because the fall leaves were at their peak! So gorgeous! Check out some of my favorite shots from the day!

Sneak Peek x 5!

Last weekend was a BIG weekend for Cara Beth Photography! Normally when I head to Louisiana I am going to see my daddy, momma, MeMe, and other family members. This weekend, however, I warned my folks, "This is a business weekend." :) And it definitely was! But the good thing about this business is that it doesn't feel like work! Saturday morning started out early at 5:30 am. I woke up, got dressed, loaded my gear and drove 3.5 hours to Minden, La. My first shoot was in downtown Minden with my first official senior shoot, Chandler. She had several different outfit changes but this one was definitely my favorite. I kept telling her she could be a model! She was so natural and had her poses down! I hardly had to do a thing but click! :)
My next two shoots were family photo shoots from Christmas cards and were done at my parents home in their yard. The leaves had just changed colors the week before, my dad said, so we hit it just right! :) Here is little Dawson Day. Isn't he a doll? I've know Dawson's mom since we were HIS age. Hard to believe, huh!
This is Carson. I think he had just as much fun as I did playing in my parents' yard. :)
That was Saturday. After all three shoots, I put on my pjs, made myself a tall glass of chocolate milk and a gluten free pizza. I hopped on my parents' couch a immediately started downloading all the pictures. I couldn't wait to get started! I love my job!
On Sunday I had two family shoots in Shreveport/Bossier area. The first one was with a childhood friend at a historic site in downtown Benton, La. They brought their furry children along with them and we got several of the four of them. Here's one of my favorites of the pups, Cuddy and Bailey.
My last shoot of the weekend was at the gorgeous Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport. The outside garden area behind the gallery is absolutely gorgeous and all of the trees were at their peek! :) This was a fun family that I just met this day through a mutual friend. They all had so much fun together and laughed the whole time. :)

Hope you enjoyed a little sneak peek of my busy Louisiana weekend!

Roshto Family:: Central Arkansas

I was so happy to get an email from this family asking me to take some fall pictures for them! I knew Jason and LeAnn years ago when I lived in Louisiana. I was happy to hear that they, too, now live in Arkansas and have three beautiful children. See for yourself. :)

little pumpkin

Our little pumpkin is 3 months old! This is my nephew, Landon, who is growing like a weed! This past month I had two different photo shoots:: one for his 3 month pictures & of course, one in the pumpkin patch. I am enjoying my first little nephew. It's so much fun to see him growing up and learning how to do things like smile and laugh. He makes me smile so much!

little David:: Newborn Session:: Central Arkansas

A couple of weeks ago I went over to my friends, Jessica and Alan's, house for a special photo shoot of their new little man, David. On September 19th, their world completely changed...for the better. I mean, what could be better than this little guy?

Another friend of mine, Lisa, made me this cozy little "fringie" and David was the first baby to try it out. I love this prop! It is perfect for a newborn shoot! I told her she needs to start selling them, so if you want one let me know and I'll tell her she's in high demand! :)

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of little David::

Canton Bound!

As a photographer, I am beyond excited to see October arrive for many reasons: beautiful fall leaves, pumpkin patch trips and family portraits. For me, October means CANTON! My mom and I are taking a trip to Canton, Texas to stock up on photography props and I could not be more thrilled! I have wanted to go to the largest outdoor trade show for as long as I can remember. I grew up LOVING antiques! It's in my blood. My great grandmother, NaNa as we all called her, was the first woman in my hometown to own her own business. She owned her own gift store. I would give anything to go back and shop at her store. Dishes galore and pretty sit arounds... Anyway, mom and I are going to Canton and I have made a list. Are you ready for it? Here it is in no particular order. Keep in mind all of these things are to be used as photography props. :)

1. vintage baby blocks

2. vintage cameras

3. vintage quilts

4. little baby crib

5. vintage toys (trucks, cars, etc.)

6. antique chairs

7. little red wagon (Radio Flyer)

8. vintage barrell

9. child's rocking chair

10. baby buggy

11. basinet

12. old metal painted chairs (bright colors)

13. vintage bike with basket

14. childs art easel/chalkboard

15. childs rocking horse

16. vintage suitcase

17. childs tricycle

One of my favorite photographers, Lauren Clark, uses props in a fabulous way! I love when she posts new pictures to Facebook. She gives me all kinds of inspiration! I drool over her props. Here are just a few of my favorite! :)

Hopefully, I'll come back with a few cute props of my own.

Rehab Reveal!

I am so excited to show you all my rehab piece that I will be auctioning off tonight at Habitat for Humanity's "Restore & After" event. Since I was asked to be a part of this special event, I have been brainstorming about what piece I wanted to redo. It started a few weeks ago as I scanned the aisles of flea markets and antique stores. I had no idea what I wanted to get my hands on and redo- there were so many choices! But this little guy caught my attention instantly and I knew it HAD to be mine!
After much love and a couple cans of spray paint, I think it turned out pretty darn good, if I do say so myself! :) And I have a confesstion to make:: this was my first *official* rehab piece I've ever completed from beginning to end, by myself (with the help of my lovely assistant, my wonderful husband, who did most of the sanding. I couldn't pry that sander away from him if I wanted to! Thanks for your help, B!)

Before:
I definitely have rehab fever now! And it's a good thing, because I bought ANOTHER stool to refinish for our home!

Stop by my booth, Cara Beth Photography, to bid on this little red jewel and sign up for a chance at a FREE photo shoot! See you tonight - 6pm at the Layfayette Building, downtown Little Rock.

Restore & After

If you've missed me lately it's not because I haven't been around. Quite the opposite actually. This is prime time for Family Portraits and that is exactly why Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I LOVE being busy with Fall Family Photo Shoots! :)

This fall, I am also honored to participate in Habitat for Humanity's "Restore & After." What is "Restore & After?" Well, I'm glad you asked! This is an event where 'local artists, schools and other community members help rehabilitate furniture and other decorative items that can then be auctioned off!' I was flattered, to say the least, when my buddy, Eric, asked me to redo a piece of my own to be auctioned off for the cause.

This is the lucky guy that is currently being rehabilitated. This is an original Singer sewing stool that instantly caught my eye at a local antique store. With a lot of love and a little elbow grease, I'll have this stool restored in no time! In fact, I worked on him this Saturday a bit and took pictures of the process...stay tuned for another blog on the before and after.

Not only will this stool be auctioned off but many other fabulous finds like this one from my oh so talented friend, Cara Wilkerson. Check out her rehabilitation station for more fun projects! And while you're swooning over her website, take a look at her stool rehab, which is the inspiration for my little Singer stool redo! I can't wait to show y'all the finished project!

I will also have a booth at this event displaying some of my photography. Stop by my booth to enter for you chance to win a FREE PHOTO SHOOT! See you there!

Jessica & Alan:: Maternity Session:: Central Arkansas

I have been looking forward to this session for weeks! Jessica and Alan are some of our dear friends. They are due...or should I say WERE due, September 15th, this past Tuesday with a sweet little boy, David. I am waiting for a phone call any day now to say that he has made his arrival in this world!

Here are some of my favorites from their session a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure I will have pictures of little David in another week or so! :) I can't wait to meet him!

Sam & Jill::Engagement Session

I just finished up my most recent engagement shoot of a precious couple, Sam and Jill. I knew immediately how special these two were because of their instant attraction to each other. I had so much fun on their shoot, two hours passed by so quickly! I didn't want it to end! Sam and Jill have a love of music and even sang a few songs for me during their shoot. Wow! So much talent packed into one couple! Congratulations, you two! I cannot wait to shoot your wedding next summer! :)

the day my bag came in...

It was an extra humid day in August. I was at a photo shoot, waiting on my husband to show up to assist me. Sometimes he gets to hold my reflector...if he's lucky. ;) He called and said, "I'm on my way! and oh, I've got a surprise for you!" I knew immediately what it was because I had been checking the front door steps relentlessly day after day since I ordered my Kelly Moore Bag. My bag was on backorder so it took a little longer to come in, but it was well worth the wait! I LOVE my bag! I have used it on 5 or 6 shoots so far and it's perfect! It holds all of my lenses, my keys, my sunglasses, my charger and any other little things that I throw in there. I am already trying to decide which bag I will get next!

Here is my hot husband opening the package for me... (I didn't want to post any of the pictures of me because it was after a shoot...let's just say I looked SCARY! I think it was 112 degrees that day!) He might be mad at me for posting these pictures of him but isn't he a hottie? ;)

Go get yours today! Click on the blinking bag on the right side of my blog to go to Kelly's site! :) (*hint- if you buy a bag by clicking on the link on my site then I get a percentage of the sale! Woo hoo! So get to buying people!)

Sneak Peak! Engagement & Maternity

This past week I had two great shoots:: a fabulous engagement session with an adorable young, so in love, couple and a maternity shoot with one of my best friends! Both were fun and I couldn't wait to share a few pictures with y'all! Check back next week for more!
